How Slab Cost Is Calculated

Total = (Cu Yd × $/Yd) + Labor Cu Yd = (L × W × T ÷ 27) × (1 + waste%)
  1. Convert length, width, and thickness to feet.
  2. Multiply for cubic feet, divide by 27 for yards.
  3. Add waste before ordering ready-mix.
  4. Multiply yards by your cost per yard for material.
  5. Add labor cost for the total project estimate.

Concrete Slab Cost FAQ

How much does a concrete slab cost?

Material is roughly cubic yards × local $/yd plus labor. A 20×20 ft slab at 4 in is about 5 cu yd with waste — at $150/yd that is ~$750 concrete plus labor, which often exceeds material on residential jobs.

What is the average slab price per square foot?

Installed basic flatwork often runs $6–$12 per sq ft depending on region, thickness, and finish. This calculator shows your $/sq ft from your inputs.

How much concrete do I need for a slab?

Volume = length × width × thickness in feet, divided by 27 for cubic yards. Add 5–10% waste for spillage and uneven subgrade.

How is this different from the floor cost calculator?

This tool uses $/cubic yard plus a total labor line. The floor cost calculator prices labor and rebar per square foot.
